What is a POP3?

POP3 (Post Office Protocol 3) is a type of e-mail address that is bound to a mailbox. POP3 is used purely for receiving e-mail and not for sending e-mail.

Each POP3 is assigned a username and password, thus you can check your e-mail through your local e-mail client (ie. Outlook, Eudora). It is recommended for only one user to use a POP3 account, because when you check your POP3 mail it is downloaded from the server.
